Halloween Fright!

In the honor of Halloween, I decided to take one for the team and watch the newest and the most popular scary movies. The two movies that I will talk about are IT and Annabelle.

Movie Synopsis: Seven young outcasts in Derry, Maine, are about to face their worst nightmare -- an ancient, shape-shifting evil that emerges from the sewer every 27 years to prey on the town's children. Banding together over the course of one horrifying summer, the friends must overcome their own personal fears to battle the murderous, bloodthirsty clown known as Pennywise.

IT has been all the buzz lately. It is a the second part of the original IT movie, released in 1990. The movies both follow a group of children, all who believe in the spirit who haunts their town. However, while both movies follow the same group of kids, the newest version show the the kids’ strong passion and an iron will. Unlike the 1990 version, the children find the courage to fight back against the force that haunts them all. Perhaps these changes in the plot are the result of the continuously growing support for children’s capabilities, including both mental and physical aspects. This is not the only change. The movie effects including the editing capabilities and movie makeup (especially when considering Pennywise, the scary clown who the movie is focused around). These truly add onto the horror aspect of the film. As a result, many critics have praised the more recent version of the movie.

As you can see, the development of movie magic has definitely improved. Both the story and editing have allowed the horror to truly be brought to life, giving you a bone-tingling scare this halloween.

Movie synopsis: Former toy maker Sam Mullins and his wife, Esther, are happy to welcome a nun and six orphaned girls into their California farmhouse. Years earlier, the couple's 7-year-old daughter Annabelle died in a tragic car accident. Terror soon strikes when one child sneaks into a forbidden room and finds a seemingly innocent doll that appears to have a life of its own.

Another popular horror movie is Annabelle. Annabelle is a doll that holds the spirit of an evil being. There are two movies about her and she makes an appearance in “The first Conjuring”. The first movie is called Annabelle, released in 2014. The newest film, Annabelle Creation, came out in August of this year. The first Annabelle tells the story of a couple who is being haunted by the spirit that lives in Annabelle. While in Annabelle creation, it follows a nun and a few orphaned girls. The spirit of the doll decides to prey on the weakest of the girls and possesses her at the end. The doll, Annabelle, is based on a true story. Creepy, right? Annabelle creation is the second movie, however it tells the story of how Annabelle came to be while the first movie it tells the story of Annabelle after. At the very end of the second movie, the little girl is possessed by the doll and tells the people that her name is Annabelle. The film later shows that she has grown up to have a normal life. Despite that, The first Annabelle focuses on the main characters, John and Mia. The couple has neighbors that have lost their daughter. Later on in the movie their daughter decides to come home with her boyfriend and slaughters her whole family. You later learn that their daughter's name is Annabelle Higgins, she is the same little girl who got possessed by the spirit in the doll.

These are just a few difference in the Annabelle movies. I would highly suggest you watch both of them and decide for yourself which one was the scariest one. Have a happy halloween
